SYNOPSIS
Based on
the Short Stories of Etgar Keret, and adapted for the screen by Etgar
Keret and Director Tatia Rosenthal, $9.99 is a stop motion animated
feature which offers slightly less than $10 worth about the meaning of
life.
Have you ever wondered "What is the
meaning of life? Why do we exist?" The answer to this vexing question
is now within your reach! You'll find it in a small yet amazing
booklet, which will explain, in easy to follow, simple terms your
reason for being! The booklet, printed on the finest paper, contains
illuminating, exquisite colour pictures, and could be yours for a mere
$9.99.
This is the ad that alters the life of
the unemployed 28 year old who still lives at home, Dave Peck. In his
struggle to share his find with the world, Dave¡¦s surreal
path crosses with those of his unusual neighbours: an old man and his
disgruntled guardian angel, a magician in debt, a bewitching woman who
likes her men extra smooth, a broken hearted man who befriends a group
of hard partying two inch tall students, and a little boy who sets his
piggy bank free. Their stories are woven together, examining the
post-modern meaning of hope.

SYNOPSIS
Two
writers must face a dilemma that is common to anyone who has ever had
an artistic friend: What happens when you have to give feedback, and
the news isn’t good? Sam, an aspiring screenwriter, and David, a
successful magazine editor, have been pals for years. When David
doesn’t appreciate Sam’s latest script, it opens a fissure in their
friendship, one that spreads through the rest of their lives.
Ultimately, both men must reevaluate their motivations to write, their
need for praise and validation, and what it means to see yourself as
you actually are.

SYNOPSIS
Academy
Award® winner for Best Foreign Language Film, DEPARTURES is
a delightful journey into the heartland of Japan as well an
astonishingly beautiful look at a sacred part of Japan's cultural
heritage.
“Departures”
follows Daigo Kobayashi (Masahiro Motoki), a devoted cellist in an
orchestra that has just been dissolved and who is suddenly left without
a job. Daigo decides to move back to his old hometown with his wife to
look for work and start over. He answers a classified ad entitled
“Departures” thinking it is an advertisement for a travel agency only
to discover that the job is actually for a "Nokanshi" or "encoffineer,"
a funeral professional who prepares deceased bodies for burial and
entry into the next life. While his wife and others despise the job,
Daigo takes a certain pride in his work and begins to perfect the art
of “Nokanshi,” acting as a gentle gatekeeper between life and death,
between the departed and the family of the departed. The film follows
his profound and sometimes comical journey with death as he uncovers
the wonder, joy and meaning of life and living.

SYNOPSIS
When a
gifted, young
artist (Danny) arrives at the opening of his first
New York exhibition his erotic paintings trigger memories of his first
love (Carter), a troubled athlete whose depression and self-denial led
to suicide. Through a series of flashbacks we see Danny and
Carter struggle with their mutual attraction. With the encouragement of
three strong and very different women, Mrs. Martin, a free-spirited art
teacher, his best friend, Andy, a young girl with a severe physical
impairment, and Miriam, a recovering alcoholic and devoutly religious
mother, Danny learns to use his creativity to transcend his
grief. Fifteen years later, Danny is faced with the possibility
